An infinity pool merged into the Lake Päijänne landscape
Located in Suopelto, Sysmä, on the shores of Lake Päijänne, the boutique hotel Ilola Inn offers guests a nature-oriented retreat where accommodation, sauna, and wellness amenities seamlessly blend with the lakeside scenery.
HM Pools engineered and manufactured a 10 × 4-meter stainless steel infinity pool for the hotel’s spa area. Built for year-round outdoor use, the pool is situated on the terrace of the spa sauna, right at the water’s edge of Lake Päijänne.
The infinity design highlights the visual connection between the pool and the surrounding lake panorama, while the timeless look of stainless steel naturally complements the boutique hotel’s upscale setting. The engineering phase accounted for the property’s bespoke requirements, installation practicalities, and a demanding project schedule.
A stainless steel pool was chosen primarily for the material’s long-term durability, low-maintenance upkeep, structural customizability, rapid installation, and immaculate finish.

According to the client, the project proceeded smoothly from initial design through to installation, and the outcome fully met the hotel’s standards. Despite the tight schedule, the pool was commissioned and ready for use in time for the hotel’s grand opening.
