HM Pools pool bulkhead
Pool bulkheads maximize the versatility, capacity, and functionality of aquatic centers, enabling pools to be utilized efficiently across training, competition, and recreational activities. HM Pools continues the legacy of Finnish-engineered L&K pool bulkheads as an integral part of its modern product portfolio.
Manufactured in Finland, our pool bulkheads are engineered specifically to satisfy European aquatic facility standards. Every system is tailor-made to project specifications, accounting for basin dimensions, regulatory codes, structural load requirements, water level tolerances, and mounting configurations. Designed and fabricated in Finland, these solutions combine heavy-duty construction, safe operation, and proven reliability in demanding aquatic environments.
Product engineering and reference installations have been carried out in Finnish aquatic facilities that host international swimming championships and high-tier competitive events. The outcome is a high-grade, durable, user-focused installation unlocking new levels of spatial efficiency for swimming centers.
Pool bulkhead quality and performance
Our pool bulkheads comply with standards established by governing bodies including World Aquatics (formerly FINA), European Aquatics (LEN), and NCAA.
Starting blocks, timing systems, and supplementary competition fittings can be seamlessly integrated to project specifications.

Materials
Pool bulkheads are manufactured from premium materials selected to withstand rigorous aquatic center conditions.
Structural framework: acid-resistant stainless steel (AISI 316L). Surface grating: a heavy-duty polymer blend of pool-grade PVC and polypropylene copolymer (PP).

Traversing and operation
Traversing is available in electric-assisted or manual drive options. Facility operating staff are fully qualified to operate the system following an approximate 4-hour training session.

Structure
A rigid yet lightweight, open-truss design paired with water-permeable surface grating guarantees adequate water flow and minimal wave reflection.

Lifecycle
Engineered for longevity, the bulkhead structure is designed to exceed the operational lifespan of the aquatic facility itself.
Maintenance, delivery, and installation
The maintenance protocol for an HM Pools bulkhead focuses primarily on scheduled cleaning and visual inspections, easily performed as part of standard facility upkeep routines.
Pool bulkheads are supplied as single-span or two-piece configurations depending on site requirements. A two-piece split bulkhead offers even greater operational flexibility, allowing independent pool sectioning for varied physical education, instructional, and competitive uses.
Depending on site conditions, on-site installation can be completed in just a few days, minimizing facility downtime. A single-span bulkhead can often be installed without draining the pool basin, whereas a two-piece split configuration typically requires water drawdown.
